Financial Aid

WGU was selected by the U.S. Department of Education to be one of the first distance-learning institutions in the country to provide financial aid to online students. While financial aid at WGU is similar to that at most other colleges, some differences apply because of our online status. You will be eligible for aid through Western Governors University ONLY if you are admitted to a WGU program.

Tuition and Fees

A WGU term is six months in length and can begin on the first day of any month.

WGU reserves the right to change any of its tuition and fees. Students will be notified in advance of the new tuition rates.

* Individuals who are in a Teachers College program that includes a teaching practicum (i.e. student teaching) will be assessed a one-time charge for the Demonstration Teaching Fee, either the Standard fee or the Internship Teaching Model fee. (The Internship Teaching Model fee applies to only those individuals who will student teach under the internship model for an entire school year.) ** Individuals pursuing the M.S. in Educational Leadership will be required to add this one-time fee to their last term as they complete their practicum experience. Speak to an Enrollment Counselor for a more detailed explanation.

*** Individuals pursuing either of the science bachelor’s degrees or science master’s degrees that require a home science lab will be assessed a one-time charge for the science lab fee. This fee will be assessed at the beginning of their degree program, included as part of the first term’s tuition. Speak to an Enrollment Councilor for a more detailed explanation.
